How it works
On adding a new work address in a different state or recruiting a new employee who has been allocated a work address in that state, you can access registration support within Niural.
The pricing is subject to change based on the state.
Here's an overview of the procedure:
1. Provide essential business details.
2. Niural and Middesk will verify the accuracy of the information.
3. Registration applications are normally sent within 3-5 business days.
4. Look out for registration details from Middesk in the mail.
5. Middesk can guide you through entering any data they don't handle on your behalf through Niural.
Initiate the state tax registration process
- Sign in to Niural as an employer.
- Navigate to the Company tab under Company.
- Select Tax Setup.
- Under “Georgia Tax Setup”, click Let Niural register for you.
Note: Niural can only register for you if you don't yet have a state account already.
- Enter company information on Middesk.
- Once you submit your order, we will send you email updates regarding the status. The total cost of your order will be added to your upcoming monthly invoice.
- Check the status of your order
- Once your order is finalized, you will receive emails from both Niural and Middesk. These emails will outline the subsequent actions, including:
1. Reviewing registration information.
2. Any additional state-specific instructions.
Before your order is finalized, you can use the link provided in the state registration confirmation email from Niural to track the progress of your order.
Cancel your order
If an order is already completed, you'll need to contact Middesk to cancel.
If an order is in progress you can email us at support@niural.com.
You'll be refunded, but it can take a few business days to process.
How to register for GA income and unemployment tax on your own

- To begin the registration, visit the Georgia Department of Revenue website.
- Under the "Registration" section, choose the option "Register a New Georgia Business" to initiate and complete the registration process.
- Ensure that we are granted the necessary special authorization to file and pay the required taxes on your behalf.
Enter the tax account information in Niural
Once a valid Georgia work address has been added for one or more employee(s), you can add your tax account information:
- Click on the Company Details section and select Tax setup.
- Click Edit on the “Georgia Tax Setup” section.

Enter your withholding account number and tax deposit schedule.
- The withholding number format is "XXXXXXX-XX," with the last two characters being in uppercase letters.
- Niural offers support for the following tax deposit schedules: semi-weekly payer, monthly payer, or quarterly payer.
- If your assigned schedule is annual, please note that Niural does not support this schedule. In such a case, you will need to make adjustments with the agency to update your schedule. You can change your deposit schedule to one of the supported options by following these steps:
1. Log in to GTC (Georgia Tax Center).
2. Under "Accounts," click on "Withholding Tax."
3. Under "I want to," click on "See more links for my account."
4. Select "Change Filing Frequency" and choose either Semi-Weekly, Monthly, or Quarterly, then click "Next."
5. Follow the remaining prompts to complete the process.
State unemployment insurance (SUI) tax registration
The majority of companies become subject to the state unemployment insurance tax when they meet one of the following criteria:
1. They have paid at least $1,500 in wages during a single calendar quarter.
2. They have had at least one employee working in Georgia for any part of a week for a total of 20 or more different weeks within a calendar year.
If your company is not yet liable for this tax or if you have not yet received your assigned tax rate, it is advisable to temporarily enter the new employer rate for your state in Niural. Be sure to update this rate in Niural once you have received the official rate from the relevant authority.
Registering for Unemployment tax with the Department of Labor (DOL)
To register for unemployment tax with the Department of Labor (DOL), follow these steps:
For Most Companies:
Register online with the Department of Labor. Upon successful online registration, you will instantly receive your account number, which will be in the format "XXXXXX-XX."
Note: If you are asked to provide "Service provider info," please skip this section and do not enter Niural’s details. Agency communication should be directed to your company, not Niural.
For Nonprofit Organizations and Companies Undergoing Ownership Changes:
Nonprofit organizations and those undergoing changes in ownership must complete Form DOL-1N. Send this form to the agency at the following address:

You should expect to receive your account number approximately one month after mailing the form.
Entering the tax account information in Niural

- The "total tax rate" should be entered in Niural, and you can locate this information in your DOL account.
- To update your rate, you can follow the instructions provided here.
- New tax rates for the upcoming calendar year will be available by the first business day of the new year.
- If you have not yet received your assigned rate, you can temporarily enter the new employer rate for your state in Niural and remember to update it once you receive the official rate.
Finding account numbers and rate info (if you are already registered)

If you've processed payroll in Georgia before, you can locate your withholding account number using the following methods:
- Review any notice that you have received from the Department of Revenue (DOR).
- Find it on the agency's website.
- Your withholding number will be in the format "XXXXXXX-XX."
Please be sure not to enter your non-resident withholding number, as it is a distinct type of withholding tax.
Important to note: The last two characters of your withholding number must be in uppercase letters.
Make certain that Niural can obtain the special authorization required to handle the filing and payment of these taxes on your behalf.
Withholding tax deposit schedule
To determine your current tax deposit schedule, please follow these steps:
Niural supports the following tax deposit schedules: semi-weekly payer, monthly payer, or quarterly payer.
If you have been assigned an annual deposit schedule, please note that Niural does not support this schedule. In this case, you will need to update your deposit schedule directly with the agency. To change your deposit schedule to one of the supported options, follow these steps:
1. Sign in to the Georgia Tax Center (GTC).
2. Under "Accounts," click on "Withholding Tax."
3. Under "I want to," click on "See more links for my account."
4. Select "Change Filing Frequency" and choose either Semi-Weekly, Monthly, or Quarterly, then click "Next."

Authorizing Niural with the GA DOR (withholding tax)
To ensure that Niural can obtain the special authorization needed to pay or file your withholding income taxes with the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR), please follow these steps:
Step One: Verify Withholding Tax Type on Your Georgia Tax Center Account
- Sign in to the Georgia Tax Center.
- Click on your business name.
- Under the "Accounts" tab, make sure "Withholding Tax" is listed. If it's not listed, follow these steps to register a new tax account:
- Under the "I Want To" section of your Georgia Tax Center, click "See more links..."
- Click "Register New Tax Account."
Follow the remaining prompts provided by the agency. After review and approval, you'll receive an email with your account number and information.
Step Two: Verify Information in Niural Matches the Agency's Records
The following information in Niural must match what the agency has on file:
- Withholding account number
- Zip code
- Last amount paid to the Department of Revenue
- You can compare this information from your Georgia Tax Center account or, to confirm, you can call the agency at (877) 423-6711.
Claim Georgia tax credits in Niural
If you have applied for the Georgia Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit or other Georgia tax credits and wish to claim them in Niural, please follow these requirements and steps:
Requirements:
1. Send an email to our team with an approval letter from the Georgia Department of Revenue, confirming that your calculation of the tax credit has been approved and can be applied to withholding taxes. The following credits can be applied to withholding taxes:
- Clean Energy Property Tax Credit
- Job Tax Credit
- Tax Credit for Qualified Research Expenses (Form IT-RD)
- Headquarters Job Tax Credit
- Quality Jobs Tax Credit
- Film Tax Credit
- Post Production Film Tax Credit
- Musical Tax Credit
2. In your email, confirm that you have authorized Niural to claim the Georgia Tax Credit on your behalf on Form G-7, your quarterly Georgia state income tax filing.
3. Niural will need access to your account on the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) website. Our team will initiate the access to your state account, and we will reach out if any problems arise. Claiming the Credits:
Once we have entered the credit into our system, it will reduce your Georgia State Withholding Tax on a per-payroll basis. You can monitor the credits that have been applied and how much credit is still available in your Niural account under Reports by running a Tax Credits report.
