How it works
On adding a new work address in a different state or recruiting a new employee who has been allocated a work address in that state, you can access registration support within Niural.
The pricing is subject to change based on the state.
Here's an overview of the procedure:
1. Provide essential business details.
2. Niural and Middesk will verify the accuracy of the information.
3. Registration applications are normally sent within 3-5 business days.
4. Look out for registration details from Middesk in the mail.
5. Middesk can guide you through entering any data they don't handle on your behalf through Niural.
Initiate the state tax registration process
- Sign in to Niural as an employer.
- Navigate to the Company tab under Company.
- Select Jobs and Pay.
- Under “ArizonaTax Setup”, click Let Niural register for you.
Note: Niural can only register for you if you don't yet have a state account already.
- Enter company information on Middesk.
- Once you submit your order, we will send you email updates regarding the status. The total cost of your order will be added to your upcoming monthly invoice.
- Check the status of your order
- Once your order is finalized, you will receive emails from both Niural and Middesk. These emails will outline the subsequent actions, including:
1. Reviewing registration information.
2. Any additional state-specific instructions.
Before your order is finalized, you can use the link provided in the state registration confirmation email from Niural to track the progress of your order.
Cancel your order
If an order is already completed, you'll need to contact Middesk to cancel.
If an order is in progress you can email us at support@niural.com.
You'll be refunded, but it can take a few business days to process.

Withholding account registration for income tax
To register for both withholding and unemployment taxes in Arizona, it's important to note that the registration process begins at a single online platform.
Here are the steps you can follow:
- Register online, which might take 2 to 3 weeks to complete. Please keep this timeframe in mind when planning your initial payroll activities in Arizona.
- Alternatively, you can choose to register in person at a local Arizona Department of Revenue office, where your registration will be processed on the same day.
It's essential to remember that the two state tax agencies process your application separately, and each agency will notify you once your registration is both complete and active.
When it comes to unemployment tax, you become liable once you've paid $1,500 in wages in a calendar quarter or had one employee working for part of a day in 20 different weeks in a calendar year.

- If you encounter difficulty accessing the site, consider using Internet Explorer or Firefox if the current browser you're using doesn't load the page.
- Look for the "Businesses" section.
- Click on "Enroll to File and Pay Online."
- Review the overview of the registration process, ensuring you complete the registration for the general "AZTaxes" account before proceeding.
- If your business lacks the necessary licenses or registration, you can create an AZTaxes account on this page.
- Once you've successfully created your general AZTaxes account, follow any remaining prompts to register for a withholding account.
- After receiving your withholding account number, sign in to your AZTaxes account.
- Proceed to the "Link Accounts" section and connect your withholding account number to your AZTaxes account. You can find detailed instructions for this process here.

Entering the tax account information in Niural
You don't have to input a company-specific withholding account number in Niural for us to handle your tax filing and payments on your behalf. We rely on your federal identification number (FEIN) for this purpose. However, we do require your unemployment account number and rate.
Registering for State Unemployment Insurance Tax
Your company becomes subject to state unemployment insurance tax in Arizona once it meets one of the following criteria:
- Paid a total of $1,500 in wages during a single calendar quarter, or
- Employed at least one Arizona-based worker for any part of a week for a minimum of 20 different weeks within a calendar year.
How to run payroll in Niural before you are liable for SUI

SUI payments and filings
In Arizona, if the total tax amount for a specific quarter is below $10, the payment is not required, but the filing still needs to be completed. In such instances, Niural will still submit the quarterly filing on your behalf and refund you for the withheld tax amounts.

Authorizing Niural with Arizona agencies
To authorize Niural with Arizona agencies and make Niural your third-party agent (TPA) for the Arizona Department of Revenue (DOR) for withholding tax, you can follow these steps:
1. To become your third-party agent, a notarized form authorizing Niural as your payroll provider must be submitted to the agency. Niural will prepare the necessary document for you to e-sign within the platform, and then it will be submitted directly to the agency.
2. Please note that this form will only become available once you've assigned an Arizona work address to your first Arizona employee.
3. The company signatory should log in to their profile in Niural.
4. From your Home page, click on the relevant Arizona to-do item.
5. E-sign the auto-generated Form 821-PSC directly within Niural.
6. After you e-sign the form in Niural, Niural will submit this to the agency directly on your behalf, and you're all set for now.
