How it works
On adding a new work address in a different state or recruiting a new employee who has been allocated a work address in that state, you can access registration support within Niural.
The pricing is subject to change based on the state.
Here's an overview of the procedure:
1. Provide essential business details.
2. Niural and Middesk will verify the accuracy of the information.
3. Registration applications are normally sent within 3-5 business days.
4. Look out for registration details from Middesk in the mail.
5. Middesk can guide you through entering any data they don't handle on your behalf through Niural.
Initiate the state tax registration process
- Sign in to Niural as an employer.
- Navigate to the Company tab under Company.
- Select Jobs and Pay.
- Under IdahoTax Setup, click Let Niural register for you.
Note: Niural can only register for you if you don't yet have a state account already.
- Enter company information on Middesk.
- Once you submit your order, we will send you email updates regarding the status. The total cost of your order will be added to your upcoming monthly invoice.
- Check the status of your order
- Once your order is finalized, you will receive emails from both Niural and Middesk. These emails will outline the subsequent actions, including:
1. Reviewing registration information.
2. Any additional state-specific instructions.
Before your order is finalized, you can use the link provided in the state registration confirmation email from Niural to track the progress of your order.
Cancel your order
If an order is already completed, you'll need to contact Middesk to cancel.
If an order is in progress you can email us at support@niural.com.
You'll be refunded, but it can take a few business days to process.
Enter the tax account information in Niural
Once a valid Idaho work address has been added in Niural for one or more employee(s), you can add your tax account information:
1. Go to the Company details section in your Niural account.
2. Click on Jobs and Pay.
3. Select Edit on Idaho Tax Setup.
4. Enter your withholding account number, which is typically referred to as a "Permit Number" by the Idaho State Tax Commission (STC). This number consists of nine digits. If you have documentation from STC that displays a 10 or 11 digit number (e.g., 999999999-09 or 999999999-W), only input the first nine digits of that number.
If you don’t have your agency-assigned rate, use the current year's "New employer rate" from here.
Update your rate in Niural only if it differs from the current one.
Register for income tax withholding
Expect to receive your Withholding Account Number and deposit schedule in approximately 10 days. Please take note of this timeframe when coordinating your initial Idaho payroll.
Register online with the Idaho State Tax Commission (STC). If you have any questions about the application call the agency at (800) 972-7660.
Enter the tax account information in Niural
Once a valid Idaho address has been added in Niural for one or more employee(s), you can add your tax account information:
- Click the Taxes & compliance section and select Tax setup.
- Scroll to the "Idaho Tax Setup" headline and select Manage taxes.

Enter your withholding account number—the number is usually labeled as a "Permit Number" by Idaho State Tax Commission (STC) and is nine digits long.
- If you have documentation from STC that shows a 10 or 11 digit number (999999999-09 or 999999999-W), only enter the first nine numbers.

Do not include any of the numbers or letters to the right of the hyphen/dash (either a -09 or -W)
- Example: If your notice says to enter 000123456-09, enter 000123456, and do not include the '09.'

Make sure to include any leading zeros at the start of the number.
- Example: If your notice says to enter 000123456-09, enter 000123456. Do not include the '09.'

If you have documentation with nine digits with leading zeros, make sure to include the leading zeros.
- Example: If the notice says to enter 000123456, enter 000123456 in Niural.

If you have a number with less than nine digits, you should confirm that the agency provided you with the correct withholding account number for STC.
- To do so, call (800) 972-7660.

Once confirmed, you should add leading zeros when updating your account number in Niural in order to create a nine-digit number.
- Example: If the state documentation says to enter 123456, enter 000123456 (add leading zeros to create a nine-digit number).
- If you need to update your account number: Contact us from the Help or Priority support section of your account—there may be tax implications if taxes have already been paid or filed to an incorrect account number.
Register for unemployment tax
Companies typically become subject to state unemployment obligations if they either disburse a minimum of $1,500 in wages within a calendar quarter or employ at least one individual for any part of a week during 20 separate weeks within a calendar year.
You can check your liability and register online with the Idaho Department of Labor. You should receive your account number and UI contribution rate in about 10 days.
Workforce Development Rate
Do not include this rate when entering your total rate in Niural.
The Idaho Workforce Development and Administrative Reserve Rates are components of the comprehensive UI Tax Rate and are indicated on the Notice of Tax Rate form issued by the Idaho Department of Labor. New employers in Idaho will obtain these rates after successfully registering with the Idaho Department of Labor.

- Head to the Idaho State Tax Commission TAP website.
- Under the login section, click Sign Up.
- Enter your registration information and click Submit.
- Once the registration is complete, sign in to Niural.
- Click the Taxes & compliance section and select Tax setup.
- Scroll to the “Idaho Tax Setup” headline and click Manage taxes.

Select Yes, I have a TAP account.
- Niural will then request access to your TAP account so we can help resolve tax issues. Idaho will send you an access code you’ll need to provide to Niural.

For successful authorization of Niural, verify that the following information you have entered into Niural matches what is on file with the Idaho State Tax Commission:
